To improve on productivity and step social standards, the MP for Jakiri Sub Division Hon. Verla Lukong Fostine on March 8 donated a consignment of improved maize seeds to Jakiri women.
Considering that Agriculture is the economic life wire of the Division and Cameroon as a whole, the MP’s timely gesture was highly appreciated by the population. To many who spoke to The Vanguard the Member of Parliament has demonstrated her motherly love and concern for the social well-being of the population she represents. “A tree is known by the fruits that is bears” one of the beneficiaries exclaimed in joy.
Before handing over the tons of improved maize seeds to the women, Hon. Verla Lukong Fostine promised to make her farm inputs support programme, an annual event to reach out to those who could not make it this year.
According to Hon.Verla Lukong, the best way to impact lives of local farmers is to provide them with improved farm inputs and improved seeds which are resistant to pest, and moreso guaranteeing more farm yields.
Prospects are high at that this timely gesture will give more impetus to the party and attracts more militants. Notwithstanding, the Parliamentarian equally promised to do more in the domain of agriculture, health and education, to create a human resource base for the Sub Division for posterity.
She lamented that the socio-economic and political brouhaha is an impediment to the dream she has for the sub division. Hon. Fostine was however optimistic that the days ahead will be better owing to government plans to carry out vigorous reconstruction works to restore peace and smiles on the faces of the victims of the ongoing Anglophone crisis.
In a chat with the Vanguard, she called on all and sundry to preach peace to dissenting voices as only peace and unity can bring about the desired change.
She reminded the population that there is no perfect society, no perfect being but called on everyone to try to be perfect. She noted that in a war, there is no victor and no Vanquish, we are all losers.
