NW Transporters Hails military Generals Suspending Matazim “Int. Boundary”

      Gen. Housseini Djibo

At a backdrop of an incident between a transporter and a gendarme officer in  North Region   which could go be exploited by politicians for it to go viral if not checked, Gen. Housseinni Djibo, Thursday December 14, held a strategic meeting at the headquarter of the 5th   joined Military region Bamenda with officials of Northwest Transporters syndicate  to check ramification of such a mishap into the region.  He noted in a chat with the press shortly after the meeting that, northwest region is not like any other region, given the security challenges. This he said explains why   it was imperative for him to hold such a meeting with transporters to check expansion of the incident into the region.

The meeting saw discussions of other issues plaguing the sector and the population in the region, notably exploitation of the population and transporters in particular by some  Police and Gendarmes  officers stationed   in the some major streets and roads of the region to check penetration of the separatists fighters. The regional president of northwest transporters syndicate Chindo Ndi Ivo, condemned in very strong terms the exploitation of the masses and transporters by the Police and Gendarmes, calling on the hierarchy to suspend most of the controls which has become money collecting stations for some uncultured state security officers.      He however,  hailed the new generals to closing  down the Santa -Matazim mixed control post  which was somewhat an international boundary given the control methodology, exploitation  and  arrogance of those state security officers assigned to serve at that  checkpoint  –   (MATAZIM) inter-regional boundary between West and Northwest regions. He said the anarchy orchestrated by some of those state security officials in some major highways of the region is very provocative, causing untold hardship for transporters and the population.   The vanguard gathered that the two new generals have not been very comfortable with the numerous security checks points on the highway of the region due to their exploitation of the population.    This apparently explains why they allegedly pressed for the annihilation of the huge police and Gendarmerie control which was inversely made matazim to  look like an international boundary, associated with exploiatation of the masses.  On the blockage of the Bamenda, Ndop, Kumbo and  Nkambe Highway, Gen Housseinni said the road is not blocked, and urged the population   to conquer  fear to be able the ply the roads and also stop ghost town that has paralyzed the region. Although the region is gradually regaining steam following their pacification approach and military dexterity,  he affirmed that   ,  gone are the days , the military use to dread the separatists  fighters as “they are the ones running away from  the military now”. The population should therefore take advantage of the situation to fully revamp their economic and social activities, he said while   assuring the population of maximum security, the state has provided them with enough means to ease movement of the people within the region. “if the people are  organized and ready to move, we will provide them with the necessary security  logistics”. He said the security of the region is not however be  the sole responsibility of the military but  the collective  efforts of all and sundry, reasons why there is need for collaboration of each and every one.
