Social media reports that a group angry mob arrested the Brigade Commander of Malantouen Gendarmarie Brigade in Noun Division west region on Saturday May 15 and took him to Sultan Nabil Mbombo Njoya of Foumban for allege abuse of the Sultan is unfounded. An authoritative source has dismissed the allegation. Our source explained that about one hundred irate youths stormed the Brigade of Malantouen looking for two Gendarms officers who carried out investigation and apprehended a drug trafficker and a harden bandit whose name we could not get at the time of the briefing . The few who first came pretended that they were sent by their traditional authority to bring the said officers to his palace for “abusing” the sultan of Noun, but the purpose of their mission was different. The source narrated that most of them had varied undisclosed intent, some of them were supporters of the harden criminals poised to break into the brigade and liberate them while other were coming with the intension of using force to recover their motor bikes impounded at the gendarmerie. He Narrated.As the Brigade commander Adjudent Achiri was busy discussing with a few of the leaders who came ahead of the mammoth, more than a hundred people stormed the Brigade threatening to burn down the Brigade if he failed to release the two targeted gendarmes’ officers to them to take to the palace. According to the source, their mission was to lynch the said officers, burn down the brigade to free their partners in crime. Unfortunately for them it was not Gods appointed time, the two were not seen after a search of the office. Some them broke the back door, took away seven bikes and enabled two criminals to escape. He told us. Before storming the brigade, the said mob destroyed the police post and rough handled a certain officer to the point of death. His colleagues reportedly vamoosed, living the commissioner alone. Frightened by the huge number and threats to burn down the Brigade, the commander opted to represent the two officers where ever they wanted them to meet with their traditional ruler.An argument broke out between them. Some opted that the hearing should be in Malantouen by the Sultan’s, first assistant chief , while other were of the opinion that the matter should be taken to the Sultan in Foumban. This made those who had no idea about what transpired Malantueon to herald that the Brigade commander was arrested and taken to Foumban by angry mob.
